The Law Commission hosted the Namibian Law Reform and Development Commission.
The two institutions engaged in a valuable exchange of the overview of the organisational structures and law reform processes. They also shared experiences in the areas of codification of the common law and customary laws.
In her remarks, the Law Commissioner, Ms. Rosemary Kumitsonyo Kanyuka described the visit as insightful and a great contribution to the operations of both commissions.
The visit took place just ahead of the Association of Law Reform Agencies of Eastern and Southern Africa (ALRAESA) conference, which is set to take place on 20th and 21st November, 2025.
The conference will be held under the theme, “Artificial intelligence and Law Reform in Africa; Re-Imagining the role of law reform agencies in the digital era”. The conference will bring together delegations from 12 ALRAESA member countries, including Namibia. Delegates have already begun arriving in the country in preparation for the event.
