Continuing the efforts to fulfill it’s mandate on creating awareness on the Laws of Malawi and the Constitution, the Law Commission on today had a session with the Reserve Bank of Malawi – Lilongwe offices members of staff. The Commission shared knowledge on the Marriage, Divorce and Family Relations Act and the Deceased Estates Act to members of staff of the central bank.
The session forms part of a series of activities organized by the Commission targeting government ministries, departments, and other stakeholders.
The Reserve Bank of Malawi management acknowledge the importance of the knowledge shared and the potential it has to enable members of staff address challenges that they face in handling marital as well as deceased estate issues.
Speaking during the opening remarks at the session, the Director of Law Reform, Mr. Mike Chinoko, emphasized the importance of ensuring that the general public is well informed about the Laws of Malawi, particularly those governing marriage and deceased estates. He noted that many people face challenges in handling such matters due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the applicable laws.
