Law Commission Monitoring Visits on usage of comic books in Primary Schools Infant Section

This week, the Law Commission is monitoring the implementation of legal literacy sessions in selected primary schools targeting infant sections. This activity follows previous training of infant class teachers and their headteachers on child and gender related laws.

The objectives are to educate infant section learners on their rights and responsibilities, identify different forms of abuse they may experience and what they can do to get help.
In this regard, the Commission in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender and Malawi Police Service are visiting selected schools in Dedza, Salima and Nsanje to assess how the child and gender-related laws are being articulated to the infants.
The visits provide the Commission with an understanding of the knowledge gap that teachers and learners have concerning child and gender-related laws.
The activities are being funded by UNICEF under the Safe Schools Programme.
