Call for Submissions

The Law Commission welcomes submissions from the individuals or institutions on potential areas for law reform. The work of the Commission is inclusive and participatory, as such values the input it receives from the public. Public participation in the identification of areas of law reform is crucial to ensuring that the proposed legislation addresses the needs and aspirations of the people governed by the law.

Upon receiving a submission, the Commission shall conduct an assessment to determine if the submission is suitable for a law reform assignment.

Submissions should be made in writing either in English or any local language. Although there is no specific format for compiling a submission, the public is advised to ensure that the submission:

(i)             focuses on addressing a social problem or phenomenon;

(ii)             clearly states the gaps in the laws that have contributed to the social problem or phenomenon and how this has impacted the public; and

(iii) is evidence-based, supported by data, case studies, or relevant observations.

The Commission shall acknowledge receipt of the submission and provide feedback on any decision that has been made regarding the proposed law reform assignment.
